Position Overview
Seeking a talented and experienced software professional to join its dynamic support team in the role of Senior Support Engineer. The successful candidate is expected to live and breathe Java and open source projects and help solve a variety of technical challenges faced by customers using open source software.
 
Responsibilities
This position will involve strategy, planning and hands-on execution.
 
Solve a variety of unique issues relating to the use of one or more integrated open source components.
Assist customers with implementing best practices around their use of open source components.
Specialize in support of Java J2EE application components such as JBoss, Geronimo, Hibernate, Spring, Apache, Tomcat, and web frameworks.
Join the on-call rotation to provide mission critical support services.
Routinely using many different development applications and frameworks for enterprise, web, and GUI developers.
Build and document sample applications, cookbooks, tutorials, and best practices that take advantage of many open source projects.
Communicate with the open source community through forums, blogs, wikis, and other media.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will be a Java J2EE expert that is driven by solving interesting and unique challenges. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge/skills and demonstrated expertise in designing, developing, and deploying complex infrastructure, web-based software and enterprise software as well as a methodical approach to root cause analysis. Experience in the design and use of open source software and in development on multiple operating systems are both required. Excellent communication and writing skills are essential.
 
Experience in several of the following is required:
 
Demonstrated expertise in the design and development of highly scalable enterprise solutions is a must.
Root cause analysis and troubleshooting
Java and J2EE expertise
Key open source projects: JBoss, Geronimo, Tomcat, Hibernate, Spring, etc.
Distributed computing: ActiveMQ, ServiceMix, Mule, JMS
Database schema design and usage: PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle
Development of products for software developers
Multiple operating system experience
Requires BS in Computer Science or related field. Candidate should have at least 5 years software development experience, 3 years of Java/J2EE/JBoss experience. Open source project and community participation, particularly with J2EE projects is highly desirable. Committership on JBoss, Tomcat, Hibernate, Spring, Apache, and/or Geronimo is a huge plus.
Must have JBoss.

J2EE Developer - Broomfield

Our client is the one of the largest digital marketplaces in the world.  Thousands of the world’s most popular digital products are sold using their marketplace on a daily basis.
 
This valued client of ours is looking to add a Software J2EE Developer to their team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the development of web applications using Java as part of their development team. The applications will be Apache Tomcat-based and developed using Eclipse running on UNIX in the production environment. The development team uses an Agile Development Methodology (a mix of Scrum and Extreme Programming) which requires close collaboration among the development team as a whole, and also between the development team and business users.
 
Responsibilities:
 
Responsible for requirements analysis, design, development, and testing applications.
Follow industry standard software development techniques and practices using an Agile development methodology.
Create appropriate design specifications utilizing industry standard tools and techniques.
Provide time lines, estimates, and status for design and development artifacts and project milestones.
Participate in collaborative software design and project planning sessions.
Provide appropriate documentation both in program code and user documentation.
Actively participate in code reviews.
Effectively communicate with various levels of the organization.
Work both independently and collaboratively with team members and demonstrate innovation, and accountability of assigned responsibilities.
 
Requirements:
 
Java development experience (3-5 years).
Agile development experience (e.g. Scrum or Extreme Programming).
Experience developing web applications.
Experience with any or all of the following Java development components: Struts Action Framework, Spring, JSP, Velocity, Tomcat.
Experience developing reports for display via web applications.
MySQL and experience with some form of database abstraction layer tool such as Hibernate.
Eclipse IDE experience.
PHP experience is a plus.
Strong communication skills.
