Welcome to the Denver Open Source User's Group Portal. The Denver Open Source User's group was formed to help developers share information about using Open Source projects in commercial environments such as BEA Weblogic, JBoss, IBM Websphere and Geronimo. Using a number of methods including monthly meetings, wiki and blog postings and specialized classroom instructional meetings we hope to share best practices , horror stories, and generally educate our members on all aspects of Open Source Software from Frameworks to complete applications.

Group Leaders
The Denver Open Source User's group is run by a number of industry technology leaders. Our seasoned team endeavors to pioneer innovative enterprise solutions for companies worldwide. Matthew McCullough | Matthew McCullough is a Java application architect and founder of www.AmbientIdeas.com. He is an outspoken advocate for the use of Agile Methodologies and Open Source in Enterprise Applications. Matthew serves on the board of directors for the Denver Open Source Users Group and speaks at this and other training sessions such as the Denver and Boulder Java Users Groups. He also contributed to the authoring of the Sun Java 5 SCJP Certification Exam. Matthew's experience includes successful in-production J2EE, SOA, and Web Services systems, including a real-time cash payment gateway that processes high volume transactions from well known firms such as Western Union, GreenDot, MoneyGram, and PreCash. Additionally, several of Mr. McCullough's J2EE Resort Management applications are currently supporting celebrity destinations across Belize, Panama, and Mexico. Matthew feels that code reviews have been a major factor in the quality of the products that have been released under his purview and was accepted to be a founding reviewer for www.CodeReviewers.com. He has been a consultant since moving to Colorado in 1994 and became an independent contractor and owner of On Track Consulting, Inc. in 1996. His 20+ year career as a software developer spans many industries: defense, semiconductors, medical, financial, and telecommunications. He has always been a “GUI Guy” but has been embracing more back end solutions recently. Mike is an open source enthusiast utilizing JBoss, Spring, Struts, Hibernate, Maven, and Postgres to name a few. In his free time he enjoys hiking, skiing, and getting little sleep until his little one sleeps throughout the night. Mike can be contacted at: mbarker@ontrackinc.com | | Scott Ryan | Scott is an SOA and Open Source Evanglelist working with various companies to optimize their adoption of SOA and Open Source strategies to optimize business returns. Scott currently resides in Denver, Colorado but works with a number of companies of all sizes in many industries throughout the world. Scott specializes in process optimization leveraging Open Source and commercial offerings such as BEA Weblogic, IBM Websphere, ATG to achieve unparalleled efficiencies. Scott has been delivering leading edge solutions in countries around the world including Latin America, Canada, Russia, China, Europe, Middle East and Africa since 1984. He has leveraged his teams to deliver software, hardware and consulting solutions in multiple industries including Petroleum, Visualization, Telecommunications, Entertainment, Banking and Mortgage. Scott is currently working in the areas of Web Services, Portals, Frameworks and delivery optimization. He is a BEA Technical Director, serves on the Board of Directors of the Denver BEA User’s Group and is a principal at Soaring Eagle, LLC. He participates in several open source projects including Maven, Mojo, Cargo, Pollinate, Beehive, Eclipse and sponsors an open source fleet maintenance and inventory management system known as Swoop. Scott is a regular speaker at user group meetings and industry conferences. Scott holds a degree in Geophysical Engineering from Colorado School of Mines.
